Prayer to The Holy Infant of Atocha
In the city of Atocha in Spain during Moor occupation a small child appeared at a prison where Christians were held. The child had with him a pail of water and a basket of bread. All the prisoners there were nourished by the bread and water yet the basket and pail remained full. The moors were astonished and the word quickly spread through Spain that the Christ child had taken compassion o n the prisoners and had come to alleviate their suffering . This is how the belief in the Holy Infant of Atocha was born.
